In 2018, our company launched a complete rebrand. That is to say, we went through some changes… and hopefully, you noticed.
Before, the company was split into three regions, New England, Missouri, and Alabama, all working somewhat individually. Each member of the OTELCO family of companies operated with their own names and practices. Then, CEO and President Rob Souza took the helm in 2014.
Souza had a vision, to “unify [the] three regions in order to take better advantage of the diverse talent pool and to develop efficiencies in administrative processes.” To make his vision a reality, the company went through some name changes, a billing conversion, a stage of internal reorganization and of course, a total rebrand. The result is what you see today, a company united under one name, OTELCO.
Rebranding with Fluent
The rebranding process is an arduous one. It takes years of planning just to get it off the ground, and even longer before it is finally complete. OTELCO’s rebrand would never have been possible if it were not for our partners at Fluent IMC.
Fluent is an integrated marketing communications agency based out of Westbrook, ME. They specialize in digital marketing, public relations, videography, strategy, and planning. Their team was there for us during every step of our rebrand. From the first days of us creating our brand identity, to finally launching the new OTELCO brand on TV,social media, print, and radio. With their help, we were able to make Rob’svision of a united company a reality.
The Golden Arrow Awards
Obviously, we think that Fluent is amazing, but you don’t have to take our word for it. Just last week they won not one, but two Silver Arrows from the Maine PublicRelations Council. Both of the awards were for their work on the OTELCOrebrand.

- A Silver Arrow for Innovative Use of SocialMedia
- A Silver Arrow for Organizational Identity Campaign
OTELCO is extremely proud of the work Fluent did for us, as well as the work that they continue to do today. Marnie Grumbach, Peter Anania, and Bryan Roche have been so wonderful to work with. Thanks to them, and the whole fluent team, OTELCO’s rebrand has been a huge success, and now even an award-winning campaign.
2018 has been just the first chapter of OTELCO’s exciting new story. In the years to come, we will continue to focus on unification, as well as creating a strong company for our customers. There is still so much to be done, but with partners like Fluent, and leaders like Rob, we are sure to see success in our future.
