The Sedalia chapter of the Noonday Optimist Club is once again sponsoring their annual Haunted Hayride event on Saturday, October 26th. This fun Halloween event has been entertaining families for over three decades! It started out at the Haunted Forest out at the old quarry about thirty-some years ago and graduated into our hayride on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. The annual event provides a fun and safe environment for the children while raising money for the many youth-focused charities and programs in our area.
There are normally five trucks or trailers loaded with hay bales that slowly drive along a one and a half-mile trail through the Fairgrounds starting at dark. Haunters of all ages come early in the afternoon to start decorating and getting their costumes and face painting ready for the public. Each ‘station’ of haunters has a theme ranging from Bone Collectors, Zombie Apocalypse, an accident scene, chainsaws, Children of the Corn and dead people crawling around a cemetery.
The cost is $5 for adults and $4 for children. Kids 5 and under are free. The ticket price includes:
- The hayride
- A hot dog
Tickets are not available in advance for this year’s hayride. Tickets will be sold at the event only.
