Leverett Library, along with the libraries of twenty-three other towns are hosting their second “Libraries in the Woods” Community Read in March, April, and May. We invite everyone to join us in the reading of Braiding Sweetgrass:  Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall-Kimmerer. This event marks the first event in our Libraries in the Woods programming at Leverett Library this March.
Drawing from her experiences researching for several King Philips War projects including most recently the joint National Parks Battlefield project in Montague, Aquinnah Wampanoag speaker Elizabeth James-Perry will give a presentation on Native Traditional Ecological Knowledge referencing foodways, arts and material cultural traditions from period sources. The artist will bring examples of her weaving etc, with wampum jewelry for sale.Sponsored in part by the Leverett Cultural Council and the Friends of Leverett Library
