OTELCO Expanding Its Lightwave Fiber Internet Zone in Shoreham

OTELCO, a telecommunications provider serving areas of Maine, Alabama, Massachusetts, Missouri, Vermont, and West Virginia, is upgrading its network in the Shoreham Telephone service area. This fiber broadband initiative includes the construction of approximately 23 miles of Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) network in portions of several communities, resulting in the availability of symmetrical Gigabit Internet to approximately 450 locations. OTELCO has made several new hires in its Maine, Alabama, and Vermont offices. Brian Bouchard joins OTELCO as an OSP Engineer in its New Gloucester, ME office. He previously worked for two years as an OSP Engineer with FairPoint and spent three years as an OSP Engineer/Engineering Manager with Tilson Technology. Bouchard is a resident of Gray, ME. OTELCO invests in fiber optic technology to serve portions of Orwell and Cornwall

OTELCO has completed 2 network upgrade projects in its Shoreham service area. In the Singing Cedars area of Orwell, the company upgraded the connection to its remote with fiber optic cable. The ‘remote’ is the junction point that distributes the Internet signal to the individual homes in the vicinity.
