Lewis “Junior” Scott Retires after 48 Year Tenure with OTELCO

October 24, 2018 — Pilot Grove, MO

Lewis L. Scott, aka Junior is retiring from OTELCO after 48 years of service. Junior joined OTELCO back when it was Mid Missouri Telephone in March of 1970.

Junior is retiring as an installation and repair (I&R) technician in Pilot Grove, but he began with the company in construction, and after 3 years became an I&R technician and for a time, while it was being offered, supported the company’s CATV services at the same time.

In his tenure, Junior visited hundreds of subscribers making tens of thousands of house calls for either installation or repair services.  One might say he’s one of the faces of OTELCO with a connection to both OTELCO subscribers and the company itself; a connection that precedes even his tenure because his dad, Lewis, also worked for the company for roughly 15 years in the 1950 and 1960s.

In his retirement, Junior is looking forward to catching up on all the things he hasn’t gotten done at home.  He commented, “I really enjoy working here, especially in the I&R position working directly with our customers.”

Todd Wessing, Senior Director of Missouri Operations, has been working with Junior for 30 of those 48 years. “Junior was always the person customers requested to come into their homes to install and service their communications services. When it was a repair call, the customers always said, ‘Send Junior out, he knows where I live, and he’ll get it fixed,’” commented Wessing, “Junior has been a dedicated and valued OTELCO employee and is a great person who is liked by everyone.  He’ll be sorely missed.  The entire OTELCO family congratulates him and wishes him all the best in his retirement.”

OTELCO is hosting a little send off for Junior at the Pilot Grove office at 215 Roe Street on November 2nd from 2 to 4 PM.  OTELCO subscribers who want to wish Junior a great retirement are welcome and encouraged to stop by.
