OTELCO High-speed Fiber Internet Well on Its Way to Morgan City

OTELCO, a telecommunications provider serving areas of Maine, Alabama, Massachusetts, Missouri, Vermont, and West Virginia, is well into the construction of high-speed fiber internet to portions of Morgan City, AL. OTELCO is investing $1.2 million to construct a network to deliver Gigabit Internet to approximately 1,200 locations. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Advancement’s (ADECA) Broadband Accessibility Fund (ABAF) provided a grant of approximately $620,000 to support this project.

As of this printing, the project is proceeding as planned and area residents could start scheduling installations as early as mid-October. For additional information and the opportunity to get put on a list for priority installation, folks can visit www.otelco.com/FiberInMorganCity.

“Brindlee Mountain Telephone is one of the legacy companies that makes up the OTELCO family and has been serving the area for more than a century. Upgrading our existing copper network to fiber as fast as resources allow will help us to continue our tradition of delivering best in class service to these communities,” commented OTELCO CEO, Richard Clark. Clark also encouraged folks to visit www.otelco.com/FiberInMorganCity to learn more and check availability for their location. Should community interest indicate, OTELCO could consider expanding the build at a future date.
