OTELCO Marks Passing of a Sales Leader, Names Interim Sales Director

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

NEW GLOUCESTER, MAINE – It is with extreme sadness that OTELCO announces the loss of Bob Froberg who passed unexpectedly on April 14th.  Bob was the Director of Sales, the inspiration, and most importantly, a mentor to his entire sales staff at OTELCO.  “With 39 years in the telecom industry, Bob was a tremendous asset to the company, his team, and to clients he served”, commented OTELCO President and CEO Rob Souza, “Having worked directly with Bob, it’s difficult to express how much I’ll miss him”.

Along with Bob’s commitment to his work, there was another side of him that further endeared him to all of us at OTELCO.  He was extremely dedicated to Miss T, his movie star cat; he loved cooking, good wine, golf, and some hearty political debate whenever it presented itself.  To unwind from the breakneck sales pace that he established for himself, Bob, a certified “Goofy” would steel off to Disney World a couple of times a year, suit up, and entertain visitors to the park.  His humor and fun loving attitude was contagious, and brought smiles to everyone he met both socially and professionally.

Because Bob’s passion for his work was relentless, we, with heavy hearts, will honor that passion, and work diligently to see that the seeds that Bob planted grow and flourish.  While his shoes will be incredibly difficult to fill, and seeing someone else in his place is unimaginable right now, we know that’s what he would want.

On Tuesday, Souza announced an interim plan at a meeting with the OTELCO sales team.  Under the plan, Trevor Jones, Director of Marketing and Product Development, will step in to lead sales the team until a permanent replacement is selected.  “My experience with Trevor is that he is a high energy team player who will make this transition as smooth as possible for the sales team and for the company”, commented Souza.  During a previous tenure with Pine Tree Networks, before it became part of OTELCO, Jones’ duties included the oversight of both the marketing and sales teams.  “Filling Bob Froberg’s shoes is a daunting proposition. He was such an inspiration and mentor to his team”, said Jones.  “I’m looking forward to supporting the team as we strive to bring state-of-the-art services and provide the best client care to Maine businesses.”

We send our deepest sympathies to Bob’s family; his OTELCO family will miss him terribly as well.  Those wishing to remember Bob is a special way are encouraged by his family to make a donation in his name to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of their choice.
